In Vitro Shoot Regeneration From Nodal and Shoot Tip Explants of a Threatened Medicinal Plant - Smilax Zeylanica L.

An efficient protocol for in vitro clonal propagation of Smilax zeylanica was developed using nodal and shoot tip segments from field grown plants. Nodal explants performed better than when two distinct were tested proliferation. The best results proliferation achieved with MS medium supplemented BAP Kn alone or combination NAA IBA at various concentrations. On containing 4.0 ?M BAP, the greatest number shoots produced. In proliferating transplanted to full strength fortified separately varying concentrations (1.0 - 6.0 ?M) order induce adventitious roots. 2.0 showed rooting reactions. Plantlets having well root system transferred soil successfully acclimatized 80% survival rate under ex condition. J. Bio-Sci. 30(1): 69-78, 2022 (June)
